Combat Arms 4.1 Earplug provides dual-mode (open and closed) hearing protection.


In open mode
 a special non-electronic level-dependent filter allows the user to hear lower-level environmental sounds (such as speech) while providing protection against loud impulsive sounds such as gunshots.


In closed mode
 the product works like conventional earplugs, providing protection against continuous loud noises and impulsive sounds.

The earplugs provide high attenuation of peak impulse noise up to 160 dB. They have a specially designed filter that lets in low levels of sound with relatively little noise reduction so you can stay aware of what’s going on around you. They provide noise reduction of up to 16 dB in open mode or 28 dB in closed mode.

Anti-noise inserts allow you to switch between situational awareness in open mode and high attenuation in closed mode using 3M’s patented flip switch design. You can change the mode even with gloves on. The key switch is labeled with “3M” and “CAE” for easy switching between closed and open modes.

A specially designed, patented soft retainer helps ensure that the earpiece stays securely in the ear. Available in 3 sizes for a precise and secure fit, this is the small size. Color-coded polyester cords are provided in yellow for training and black for combat operations.
