Combat Arms 4.1 Earplug provides dual-mode (open and closed) hearing protection.
In the open mode, a special non-electronic filter dependent on the level allows the user to hear lower-level environmental sounds, such as speech, while providing protection from loud impulsive sounds like gunfire.
In the closed mode, the product works like ordinary earplugs, providing protection from continuous loud noise and impulsive sounds.
The earplugs provide high attenuation of peak impulse noise up to 160 dB. They have a specially designed filter that lets low-level sound pass through with relatively little noise reduction so you can stay aware of what’s going on around you. They provide noise reduction of up to 16 dB in open mode or up to 28 dB in closed mode.
Switchable noise-reducing inserts allow you to switch between situational awareness in open mode and high attenuation in closed mode using 3M’s patented toggle switch design. You can even switch modes while wearing gloves. The toggle switch is labeled “3M” and “CAE” for easy switching between open and closed modes.
A specially designed patented soft retention system helps ensure that the plug stays securely in the ear. They come in three sizes for precise and reliable fit, and this is the small size. Polyester cords with color coding are provided in yellow for training and black for combat operations.
